blog 19- finished video
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MAdRM0crg48 Unforunately the rejected footage is still on this, we didn't realise we still had it on the music video. The music video itself finishes at 3:38, the rejected footage was too similar to a lot of the footage that we used for this music video.
blog 18- creative camera use
In our music video we used two effects to make our video more interesting. To demonstrate that the music video has a past section ,we turned the clips of the couple arguing into black and white. We did this because we wanted to make the clips stand out in order for the audience to realise why she is breaking up with him and for them to connect with the lead female. We also used fade as an effect, we decided to do this to make it seem that we are in the lead females mind and the fade in, fade out demonstrates her going into another thought. We also decided to do this to introduce different sections into the music video. I think the effects are simple but they go well with the music video as well as the song, because it is quite an easy going song, so we thought if we used to many effects that the music video wouldn't connect with the music video as well as it does now.

blog 17- rejected footage
When it came to choosing our footage, we realised that we have some very similar footage. We thought that this would be boring during our music video, so we decided to reject some dance studio footage as well as some of the present footage. The dance studio footage that we decided to reject was the line 'Brush You Off', we decided to reject this as we already had a lot of the same lines within the dance studio as well as the other sections to our music video. As the line 'Brush you off' was the most dominant line in the music video, we wanted to put in a different clip for every line. We had a lot of great footage for this, so we thought that using a similar shot would lose the importance of the domincance of Brush you off. The present footage was also very similar to the dance section of the music video, again the line was 'Brush You Off', during our time of filming we focused more on the chorus then we did the verses as the chrous is the most repeitive part to the song. To lose the repition we decided to use completely different shots within the chorus. When looking back we realised that some of the shots were very similar to each other, particuarly within the present section of the music video, so we reject some of the present footage and replace it with the past section of our footage. When it came to finishing our music video, we also lost some footage unintentionally of when the lead female met her boyfriend to break up with him. This is unfortunate as the storyline was to show why she is breaking up with him and her going through what she is going to say to him before she meets him. We decided to carry on with that storyline but without her meeting him, we then decided to use a past section to end the music video, to show that the she has moved on from him and she's ready to move on with her life.

Blog 16- Advert
I will be analysing to promo's from my chosen genre one from the group in which my chosen artist was a former member of Danity Kane and another advert from Cheryl Cole. Cheryl Cole- Messy Little Raindrops
The advert for Cheryl Coles new album is much better compared to Danity Kane, this is because it has a picture of Cheryl, fully explains what you can expect from the album and it is also colourful. What is most striking when it comes to this advert is that it is on a big billboard, this will get people to notice it as they walk passed or drive passed it, as Cheryl Cole is the most popular woman in Britain I believe they needed to make the advert stand out even more for people to become interested in her. On this billboard advert we are shown a big image of what the album cover is going to look like. Like Danity Kanes advert they use the same font style as they do on the actual album cover. What is different to this advert compared to the Danity Kane advert is it has additional information such as the record label, the advert also persuades people who look at this advert to follow Cheryl Cole on Facebook and Twitter, this could make her fans want to go onto facebook as there may be some exclusives on there. Overall I think this is a really good advert, it fully explains everything that you need to know about the upcoming album.

Overall I think this is a really good advert, it fully explains everything that you need to know about the upcoming album. If I was to take influence with this advert I would include the single 'Brush You Off' is on the album. Danity Kane- Welcome to the dollhouse
This is the official magazine advert for Danity Kane 'Welcome to the Dollhouse' this advert is quite simple in the fact that it is only has font on it, which is in front of a black background. At the top of the advert is the groups name 'Danity Kane' in the same font that it uses on the album cover, as they are the only group who have commonly used the font Led Zepplin IV, fans of them or people who haven't really being interested in them will be able to notice that it is this group. In the middle of the advert we are brought with the album title 'Welcome to the dollhouse' which is again in the same font as it is on the album cover, this will again make people realise that this is Danity Kane. In this advert we aren't shown very much in what we can expect from this album, they only tell us that the new album will be out on March 18th 2008. Overall I do not think that this advert is good as it doesn't give anything away about the album, especially as their first single from this album 'Damaged' was released two months before the album was, to make this advert better they could've mentioned that 'Damaged' is a song on the album as it was their biggest hit, they could've also put a picture of the group as the background to make this advert stand out more. If I was to read this in a magazine I wouldn't take much notice of it as it doesn't stand out to me and isn't very appealing. As the main target audience for Danity Kane are teenagers girls aged 13-24 I believe they should've made this advert a little bit more colourful in order for the target audience to become interested in buying the album. For my own advert I will put a picture of Aundrea Fimbres as the background cover, I will take influence from both adverts that I have analysed.
Flat Plans:
For this design I have made it as quite a simple advert, like my digipack I have decided to make the image black and white so that they can both link in with each other and so it can link in with the music video that I am creating aswell. The background image is the lead female, I haven't fully decided what the image will be of, if it will be a close up, mid shot or long shot of her. I think for this advert it would be better to have a long shot so the writing will not interfere with the image, the writing would as if I was to use a close up as my final image. At the top of the design I have put 'INTRODUCING...' I will deifnitely use this for my final design as I think it would make people interested in this advert as it is an upcoming artist it will make everybody interested in her. I will make 'AUNDREA FIMBRES' stand out, I believe this would make the audience want to carry on looking at this advert. As the image will be black and white, I will make the font colour a grey colour to make it stand out without fading behind the background. For this advert design I have put in some of the things that the digipack includes "Includes: The hit singles "Brush You Off and Louder." I decided this as influence from Cheryl Cole's advert as it has on it Includes 'Promise This'. Overall I think this is a good advert design as it will feature everything that it requires to. I have taken more influence with this design from Cheryl Cole's advert because it features and image and also has more about what's to come from the digipack. When I design more adverts I will follow the same pattern but try and make it seem more interesting.
For this flat plan I decided to take influence from Danity Kane, I thought I would design it with the influence as Aundrea was apart of the girl group. I decided to keep 'INTRODUCING' for this design as I believe it would interest the audience into looking at the advert. I haven't designed an image to be included in this advert, because I thought I would create some mystery into Aundrea Fimbres, I have again included a part of what tthe digipack includes which are the two singles 'Brush You Off' and 'Louder', researching more into adverts it has become clear that the majority of the adverts include what singles will be included within the digipack. The font will be Harrington if I decide to use this design, I think using the Harrington font will make the advert stand out more because the font is naturally bold. The background colour will be grey, to link in with the digipack as the digipacks background cover is grey. I have designed this advert so 'AUNDREA FIMBRES' is the most noticable font on the advert, I chose to do it that way to make people become more interested in her as a solo artist than and take the name away from Danity Kane. Overall I think this is an okay design, I do not think I will use it as I would prefer to include an image for the advert, like I have done for the digipack. I also think that this advert doesn't link in with the music video, so there will be no relevance to the advert if I use this design. I like that I have made 'AUNDREA FIMBRES' the most noticable font within this design and I will do that again w
ithin my 3rd design.
ithin my 3rd design. This is my third design for my advert, I have chosen to do a close up image of the lead female for this design as it connects you more with her. Again I have put 'INTRODUCING...' at the top of the digipack, as I believe that it would attract the audience and interest them I have decided to definitely keep it in the advert. In this design as there is a big image I have put the font to the right hand side so it will not go over the image or fade within the image. The problem with this is the font will be in a smaller size in order for everything to fit in, I do not think this is to much of a problem because I believe that it could still become a really good advert. Looking at Cheryl Cole's advert the font on her advert is smaller than what I will make mine, so I think that it wouldn't matter to much if the font is smaller in this design compared to the other designs I have created. If I were to use this design I would make the image black and white to link in with the digipack I have created as well as the past section of the music video to 'Brush You Off'. The font I will use for this advert is Harrington, I really like the font because it is bold and can be seen as a feminine and masculine font. I Have decided to use this design for my advert because I think over all it is the best design and I could take some really good close up images as well as experimenting with font colours to go well with the final image I take.
Advert:
This is my final advert, I decided to take a different type of image for this digpack which is a medium close up. I chose to do that type of shot because I wanted to show expression within her face and also other parts of her upper body which I deicded was to be her hand. I think this image goes well with the digipack as it is quite a similar facial expression with the front cover of the digipack, it shows her as being quite vulnerable which is what the music video demonstrates her as aswell. Again I made the image black and white to link in with the past section of the music video, I also decided to make the image black and white to go with the digipack because otherwise it wouldn't go with it, and I also believe the image looked better in black and white. The pose in the image has many interpretations I believe, as her hand is over her eyes it could be interpreted that she's hiding away from the pain that her boyfriend has given her or that she's getting away from her past, so it's open up for interpretation. I think that the image allows that to happen though as she connects with the audience. I decided to use the same font for this advert as I did with the digipack, I decided to do this to make it link in and to also keep the target audience as female and male. I decided to use White as the colour for the font in this as I believe if I used the same colour font as the digipack then it wouldn't go well together. I think this advert is good as like the digipack it tells you all the information you need to know, I do believe that the image is the most appealing item about this advert as she connects with the audience as soon as you see it.
I asked the same six participants questions about the advert, because I think they know a lot about the digipack so they can compare the digipack with the advert. I asked the same questions 'What they like' and 'what they don't like'. Looking at the results all six of the participants liked the presentation of my advert, I think this is really good as it shows that it is appealing because it looks nice. When it came to what they didn't like about my advert, it was the font. Two out of the six thought that the text was hard to read in some places, two others thohght that there was too much information, while the other two thought that the text was good and clear. I think this is good criticism because I believe if I was to change the advert I would make the text in a bold font with a little less information to make the advert more appealing. The image was also well recieved by the participants a quote from one of the questionnaires was 'The picture is nice, it makes you want to see what this advertt is about.' When I asked if this advert fits the R7B genre, the majority stated no. One of the answers was 'It looks like it is a club advert', while the other stated 'it appeakls to a theatre audience'. I believe this is good criticism as if I could change the advert I would change some things around to make it appeal to the R&B audience. Overall I think that the answers really gave me a good insight into what works for an R&B audience, I would change the font but keep the image because I believe that it is an appealing image and draws the audience in right away.
